Advanced Diagnostics and PC Gaming Maintenance – Ryzen 9 7950X3D, RTX 4080 and ASUS X870-F
Hardware and software diagnosis, cleaning, motherboard replacement, and detailed tests for a Gaming PC with Ryzen 9 7950X3D, RTX 4080, and 64 GB DDR5. Intervention documented between 26–29 October 2026, with measured results and explained conclusion limits.
Advanced diagnosis and maintenance for a High-End Gaming PC
Between 26–29 October 2026, iTechServiceTM performed a complex hardware and software diagnosis intervention on a computer featuring AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 16 GB ASUS GeForce RTX 4080, and 64 GB DDR5 RAM. The project included comparative tests, measurements, maintenance, motherboard replacement, BIOS update, and detailed analysis of in-game stutters.
1. Symptoms investigated
The computer exhibited brief stutters in Bellwright and Rust, sometimes accompanied by temporary freezing of the image and the mouse. Loss of video output, increased fan speed, game crashes, and a complete freeze during an OCCT test were investigated separately.
The purpose of the intervention was to differentiate hardware issues from delays caused by games, drivers, and Windows services, using measured results and comparisons between configurations.
2. Hardware checks and comparative tests
- Inspection of power connections and measurements with the UNI-T UT139C multimeter.
- Testing the video memory and RTX 4080 card under dedicated loads.
- Temporary installation of an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT card for comparison.
- Temporary testing with Ryzen 9 7950X, followed by reverting to Ryzen 9 7950X3D.
- Checking RAM, processor, and both SSDs through dedicated tests.
- Analysis of Windows logs and correlation of incidents with performed tests.
Static power measurements were not treated as proof that the power supply or graphics card operates without issues under any load. Temporary replacements were diagnostic tests, not automatic confirmations of faulty components.
3. Maintenance, disassembly, and reassembly
The photographs document the opening of the system, disassembly of components, dust buildup on the case filter, heatsink, and fans, as well as cleaning and reassembly. Connections and component organization were checked before resuming tests.
The gallery includes all 24 photographs of the intervention: measurements, components used in tests, maintenance steps, the MemTest86 result, and the reassembled system.
The work also included replacing the power supply: the AQIRYS MAGNETAR 1000 W unit was removed and an ASUS ROG 1000 W power supply was installed in its place.
4. Motherboard replacement and platform configuration
The motherboard ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-A GAMING WIFI was replaced with the ASUS ROG STRIX X870-F GAMING WIFI. The BIOS of the new motherboard was updated to version 2503, and chipset, network, and audio drivers were installed or checked.
Configuration documented at the end of the period:
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 16 cores and 32 threads.
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX X870-F GAMING WIFI.
- Graphics card: ASUS GeForce RTX 4080, 16 GB.
- Memory: 64 GB Corsair DDR5, two 32 GB modules; last verified frequency: 5200 MT/s.
- Storage: Crucial P5 Plus 500 GB for Windows and Crucial P3 2 TB.
- Power supply: ASUS ROG 1000 W, installed in place of the AQIRYS MAGNETAR 1000 W power supply.
- Cooling: liquid cooling system with LCD screen.
5. Stability tests and documented results
- MemTest86: 4 out of 4 passes, 48 out of 48 tests, zero errors, PASS result. The session lasted 4 hours, 46 minutes, and 24 seconds, with memory at DDR5-4800.
- Prime95 Small FFT with AVX-512: approximately 15 minutes, 424 checks completed without calculation errors.
- OCCT CPU + RAM: separate 20-minute test, completed normally, with no errors reported in the log.
- Storage: both SSDs passed the documented extended diagnostics.
- RTX 4080: dedicated video memory and 3D tests were completed without errors reported in the described sessions.
- Cinebench and HWiNFO: in the monitored test from 29 October, the CPU temperature reached a maximum of 81,4°C, with no signs of HTC/PROCHOT thermal throttling.
These results refer to the configurations and ranges tested. They do not cancel out incidents occurring in other tasks and do not represent a stability guarantee in every scenario.
6. Analysis of stutters in Bellwright and Rust
We analysed the time required for each frame, CPU and graphics card activity, storage access, and waiting times between software components. In specific episodes, costly operations were identified on the main game thread, interface building, object management, and waiting times after navigation or rendering.
In Rust, a wait chain between the game, Steam, Wi-Fi services, and Windows verification was also documented. This explained some of the pauses in the analysed capture, without proving a faulty processor or a single cause for all symptoms.
7. Intervention results and limits of conclusions
The project delivered system maintenance, reassembly on the new motherboard, verified BIOS and drivers, and a documented diagnosis, separating hardware test results from the behaviour observed in games.
We present this project as a diagnosis and maintenance study: the conclusions follow the available evidence, without remediation promises that were not confirmed through tests.
